Tech Tuesdays: Axiom Pro 49 with Hyper Control..

Axiom pro 49 keyboard

I’ve actually been using midi keyboards for a while but wanted to post this up for anyone looking for the right keyboard for their production. They actually make a 61 but i needed one that had slightly more portability. I just got one of these because a good friend of mine was good enough to lend me his for a test run for a few weeks and I like how i can access much of the control parameters in lots of the instruments in Ableton and with the added “hyper control,” I am able to better maneuver some of the midi functions in Pro tools, and we all know how crappy Midi function in Pro tools is. I liked the semi weighted keys make it feel slightly more like a piano and the overall build quality is top notch. Here is a link you can get more info on this keyboard if you’re interested. M-Audio

Tech Tuesdays Pt. 2: NAMM 2012 overview..

I have to give a big shout to my supporter, Nelson from Shure for having me out to the show.. and then i realized i didn’t even take a pic of that booth.. i suck at life. NAMM 2012 was fun and full of tech but i was a litle disappointed, i didn’t get to chat with reps from Ableton or Native instruments because they didn’t have booths.. I felt like the show lacked some of the super technological things around the corner from now but nonetheless still some really cool stuff to see.. my favorite piece of equipment at the show had to be Moog’s Minitaur bass synthesizer.. amazing!

Odyssey Dj / producer backpack… Review

Recently i flew to Vegas to dj a few gigs and found the need to take my Akai Apc 40 with me. I was already taking a big suitcase with me because i stayed in Vegas for longer than I have ever been in Vegas. I didn’t want to carry an extra bag for the APC. I needed a backpack that would not only carry/protect my laptop and a few other necessities but would also hold my APC and a full size hard drive along with what i would normally take to a gig. Not an easy feat. I looked high and low for the right bag and finally discovered, Odyssey’s Redline Series BRL Backspin.

I verified that this bag would fit the APC-40 and decided to try this bag out for this trip. Let me say that this bag fit everything i needed to bring and still had space to spare.

BRL Backspin equipment

The thing I like about this bag versus other bags is that it fits everything nicely and is abundantly padded..and yet when its full, it doesnt feel like you’re wearing a big ass truck on your back. For all the stuff you’re able to fit in this bag, its relatively compact.

The bag had tons of pockets and padded sections and held everything from some extra CDs to enough room for up to 20 pieces of records (who carries those anymore? :I ). I had a stanton stand neatly tucked into a pocket and the front upper pocket fits a pair of headphones in nicely so it doesn’t get smashed or broken. There were even small pockets on the side for stickers as you see in some of the pictures. All in all I like the bag. it serves its purpose very well.

Shout out to Odyssey for producing such a nice bag and just in time for my trip!

Tech Tuesdays!! Rane 68 to give the djm 800 ..

a run for its money! NAMM show was this past weekend and of course all the companies debuted big new products.. One of the products to draw huge attention with the dj’s, Rane Mixer 68. Dj’s the biggest feature i think to stand out immediately for Serato dj’s is the two usb ports for seamless transition from one dj to the other without the need for a record (hi lazy deejay that never brings a, meaning 1 record). Rane and Serato had YOU in mind with this feature. Other big features include the 4 virtual decks in serato 2.0 for the dj’s that like to loop and sample to create a live multi-track, built in effects similar to the Pioneer djm 800 and things like assignable cue point buttons right on the mixer. Awesomeness all around, I want one!
