This tech tuesdays is about the Novation Dicers and obviously for the deejays. Anyone that knows me, knows that I’m into technology. So I like to try out cutting edge and brand new gadgets. A few months ago Novation sent me these:
I added them to my set, first at home in the studio and as i became more comfortable, i used them playing out. They work great! They add some flare to my set that i didn’t have previously by giving me access to some of the looping features of serato that i didn’t really use previously because it’s slightly more work to access it. Now with the dicers, its much easier to do.
Not only have i added more flare to my sets with the dicers, I’ve also, midi mapped some of the functions of Serato right into the dicers so i can load songs and access different banks of samples right from them. Its to map and easy to use. it gives me even more control of whats goin on in serato in a quicker fashion. Just how i like it. After several months using them, i don’t play without them, and would recommend them to anyone!

A bouncer had watched them sleep for a few minutes and finally woke them up. They woke up as if they had been in deep sleep……. #Gofigure

Tucked away in a nice little Southern coastal town, Suite is in downtown Pensacola and is the classiest club you will find in the area. Just off the main strip where all the bars reside, the Nightclub environment is a short walk away. When you first walk up, building is nothing special but as you walk in, you are treated to a lovely chandelier with a red and black theme and a few beds to hang out and lounge on. A medium sized place around 6000 sqaure feet featuring booths and plush seating as you socialize the night away.
There are two rooms, the main room with a bar-stand featuring well drinks and a variety of beer along with a smaller back room featuring a 40 foot long full service bar. Specializing in upscale bottle service, renown deejays and velvet ropes allude to the the high-life and style you would find in any major city’s nightlife scene.
The staff was very cordial and professional and the people looked like they were having lots of fun socializing and dancing. Pensacola is smaller town with a lot of good hearted people, and the crowd ranged from 21 to mid 30′s and all mingled together. It was a good vibe.

The dj booth is tucked in a corner of the club connected to the featured table service booth (which was a visual pleasure the night i dj’ed considering it was playmate Tyran Richard’s booth for the night). Despite it being slightly crammed for head room (i’m 6ft 2in.), you had the essentials you needed to deejay. Two good turntables, a laptop stand, a good mixer (rane ttm 56 for you techie’s), A monitor and serato is built into the booth. You had what you need to rock the crowd.
Overall,
It was a cool spot to go to and there are different features there throughout the week. Tuesdays are bar specials with Nintendo Wii games being played, Weds are 80′s night for you throwback folks, and Thursdays are ladies night. Of course Friday and Saturday , the heat is turned up a notch and you have to get young fly and flashy to get in. If you’re in town, this is the place to go! TOP NOTCH!
